Car Park Etiquette
A school of 1,500 students is bound to be a busy place. Safety of all staff and students is always a concern and one of our highest priorities. The beginning and end of the school day are both always hectic, especially with many of our students arriving at school via car.
Despite the psychically well-structured nature of our car park and the sensible rules used to govern it, the car park is naturally very busy during these peak times of the day and, as such, is potentially dangerous to our students. To counteract this potential problem the school WH&S department, in consultation with our security guard, has developed a system to ensure that our car park is as safe and functional as possible.
Primary students are walked to either car line or bus lines. Students may only leave car lines when they are collected by a nominated parent/carer or a High School sibling, once the parent/carer has arrived on site.
During the peak traffic times within the school car park, three rostered staff are placed at various points throughout the car park to direct and oversee the safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles. A speed limit of 10km/h applies to all roads on the school property and is to be strictly adhered to. There are several internal roads further into the school grounds that have restricted access for staff only. Several dedicated pedestrian walkways allow access to the school via the Prep School and main gate.
We ask that all visitors to the school site follow the instructions of staff members, who have been rigorously trained in the safety procedures of our specific environment.
All of the security procedures undertaken at WCCS either meet or exceed the standards of relevant WH&S requirements.
